What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles into specific trigger points on the body to manipulate desired physiological actions.

 Why have Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is used to assist the body with healing a wide range of conditions. It is the main treatment modality of TCM, which is a complete medical system that has been used in Asia for thousands of years.

Can I get an infection from needles?

All the needles used at Acupuncture Northampton are single use sterile needles that are disposed of after use, meaning there is no chance of infection between patients.

Does Acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture is nothing like getting an injection, most often needles are not felt and when they are it is no more than a mild pinch at the moment of insertion, the needles cause no pain once inserted.

Are there any side effects of acupuncture?

Most of the side effects I.e. improved healing. are desired, the only other side effects may be occasionally a single drop of blood, and extremely rarely a bruise if the skin is particularly prone to bruising.
